CinemaKit Studio guide: open, grade and export
CinemaKit · Updated:
CinemaKit Studio processes footage locally in a WebGPU-enabled desktop browser. Open studio.cinemakit.app, test with a sample clip, then bring in your own footage. Your video files are read from your computer rather than uploaded for server-side processing.
1. Check browser and GPU support
Use an up-to-date desktop browser with WebGPU enabled and a compatible GPU. Chrome, Edge and Brave are starting options, but availability depends on operating system, browser version and drivers. Open Studio’s sample clips first to distinguish a browser problem from a problem with a particular recording.
2. Open and inspect footage
Drag the supported files into Studio. RAW support includes MLV, CKRAW and MCRAW; BRAW is experimental. HEVC, H.264, ProRes and XAVC video are also supported. Check the first frames, duration and audio before grading. Keep original files available for your project.
3. Correct, grade and export
Start with exposure and white balance, then use curves, LUTs and scopes to build the look. Export CinemaDNG, ProRes or a supported web-native codec depending on your next application. Browser and hardware affect available export options. Render a short section and inspect it in your intended editor before starting a full batch.
If playback or export fails
- Confirm WebGPU is available and try the sample clip.
- Reduce the test workload and check free memory and storage.
- Report browser version, operating system, GPU and input format to support@cinemakit.app.
