Troubleshooting CinemaKit
CinemaKit · Updated:
Thousands of phone models handle their cameras a little differently. These are the issues reported most often, why they happen and what to try.
Recording doesn't start on iPhone
On some iPhones the image processor occasionally refuses to start a RAW recording. The limitation sits on the hardware and system side, not in your settings, and a fix is being worked on.
- Close CinemaKit and open it again.
- Switch to another lens and back.
A camera or lens is missing
Phone makers decide which cameras third-party apps may use. Many Android phones keep the ultrawide, telephoto or macro lens for their own camera app. CinemaKit shows only the cameras your phone makes available, and a locked lens can't be unlocked from inside an app.
Dropped frames or a recording that stops
- If you record to external storage, check that it is fast enough for the mode. RAW needs a sustained high write speed.
- Try a crop mode, Oversample or a lower bit depth to reduce the data rate.
- Make sure there is enough free space on the phone or drive.
Something else looks wrong
Wrong colors, a missing mode or unstable recording can be specific to one phone model. Email support@cinemakit.app with your phone model and a short description. Reports like these are the main way device-specific problems get found and fixed.
