Getting started with CinemaKit
CinemaKit · Updated:
Start with a short RAW take that you can review and export before your first important shoot. This guide connects mobile capture, file handling and post-production without assuming every phone exposes the same camera modes.
1. Install and check your device
Download CinemaKit from your platform’s app store and grant camera, microphone and media permissions as needed. Choose an available lens and inspect the resolutions, frame rates and bit depths shown in the app. A lens missing from the list may be restricted by the phone manufacturer.
2. Record and review a short take
For simpler file handling, start with MLV. Choose a recording mode your storage can sustain, set focus and exposure, and record a short test. The 7-day trial limits each recording to 7 seconds. Open the built-in player to inspect focus, audio and the recorded image before changing several settings at once.
3. Grade on the phone or transfer
Use the grading panel for a quick mobile result. To transfer through Wi-Fi, enable Start Server in Settings and open the displayed address in a computer browser on the same network. Keep CinemaKit in the foreground during transfer. On iPhone, Finder on Mac or Apple Devices on Windows also provides a cable route. Supported external storage can avoid an additional copy.
4. Export and keep your original
For a desktop grade, open the take in CinemaKit Studio on a compatible WebGPU browser. Export a format your editor accepts and check a short result before a batch. Back up the original RAW and any motion sidecars separately from the exported video. A delivery export is not a replacement for your source recording.
