CinemaKit RAW video on Android
CinemaKit brings Bayer RAW capture, playback and color grading to Android. Available lenses, sensor modes, frame rates and bit depths depend on the hardware and camera access provided by the device. Check the modes shown in CinemaKit on your own phone.
Capture and playback
Record MLV or CinemaDNG, review in the built-in RAW player and grade on the device. For lossless storage after a shoot, convert a take to CKRAW. RAW bit depth comes from the sensor; selecting a higher label cannot create precision the hardware does not deliver.
Platform-specific workflow
Android exports graded video to HEVC or H.264; 10-bit HEVC depends on encoder support. Android can offer 1440p oversampling and recording to USB-C drives or SD cards where supported. Some manufacturers restrict additional lenses to their own camera app, so an ultrawide or telephoto lens may not be accessible.
Check your phone before a shoot
- Confirm the lens and desired RAW mode appear in the app.
- Make a short take and check sustained recording, audio and playback.
- Test your chosen storage and export in the editor you actually use.
- If a device behaves unexpectedly, send its exact model and the recording mode to support@cinemakit.app.
